About Us

The “school in the park parents’ forum” is a group of parents and teachers from all four primary schools, Dowanhill, Kelvinhaugh, Willowbank and Hillhead which will feed into the new school. Provisional entry date has recently been revised to Spring 2010.

 

Many of us had objections to the original proposals. However subsequent to the consultation in 2006, when  the decision to have a new school was taken, we came together as a group to ensure that parents, teachers and pupils became part of the design process.

 

We are all aware of the issues caused by the amalgamation and support the teachers in their attempts with this process.

 

We are all aware of the pros and cons of the proposed site and support the architects and their design.

 

The decision has long been taken that 3 schools will close and Hillhead will move to a new site.  We want the school in the park to be the best environment for our children’s education.

 

Our group has three main aims:

• Tell parents and carers about progress on the new building
• Act as a focal point for discussions with the Council the architects and other local groups
• Support the integration of all the schools involved
